1. MATTERS ARISING
New Lairhillock School – Lights are left on day and night, Mike Sullivan claims ‘special deal’ ensures no extra cost, but he will speak to relevant officers. It appears that possible presence of otters may be delay bridge further: Planning Dept unaware of details. The junction to Stranog now seems too narrow for cars to pass and worse for tractors and trailers. Mike to meet with Mark Skilling at Banchory-Devenick crossroads on Friday and mention this junction.
Web site – Nothing to report.
Roads – Mike has a list of complaints regarding roads leading to Banchory-Devenick crossroads, holes at Auchlunies etc and will discuss at the Banchory-Devenick crossroads meeting (arranged for 8.00 to 9.00 am to observe volume and especially speed of traffic). Rob has next year’s Roads Dept. repairs schedules, Philip will plot sites on a map.
Western Peripheral Route – Robert to send copy of our objection to all MSP, Regional List and Council candidates.
2. PLANNING
Blairs – New (280 houses) application might come up in June, but seems unlikely. The old Blairs (281 from1999) has now gone to appeal (Public Inquiry).
15 Affordable Houses Westside Maryculter – Refused at Area Committee.
Westside – Coming back to Committee after further discussion with Roads Dept.
Meikle Carewe – Nothing new.
Banchory-Devenick Cemetery – Mike and Duncan met with the Church Session – a land swap seems to be possible.
Proposed Tourist Lodge (16 Bedroom) and House at Lairhillock. We have objected to these – as breaches to Policy and suburbanising countryside.
Jameston Application – Rob enquired but Planning Dept not aware of any new application (since 2004).
Planning Gain – to be discussed at next meeting
City and Shire Structure Plan – NEST being reviewed – Strategic plan for next 25 years now being developed. There will be consultative meetings. Before that our response to this although late should be sent.
Sandy thinks the planners want development sites. Considerable discussion on this. Consultative meeting on 17 May – anyone wishing to attend – contact Rob.
3. FINANCE
200 Club April draw to be made in May as Treasurer not here.
Request from Kirkton Hall users for a new vacuum cleaner - to be discussed next month.
4. CORRESPONDENCE
After discussion it was agreed to vote for John Hopkins to be the Community Council
representative on the Aberdeenshire Community Planning partnership.
Friends of the Earth would like to invite us to a series of training sessions. (Only 5 in Scotland) Rob to find details.
5. AOCB
Cookney Hall – Rob described the work needed to renew Entertainment licence, Major cost involved, there will be a fund raising Ceilidh on 25 May. Money and help needed.
School Buses - Steve asked councillors Mike, Sandy and Carl, if anything has been done about school bus seatbelts. Mike will contact Steve. The Working Group on this has only met once or twice since the accident in December. The councillors think we should write to Bruce Robertson the new Education Director to get a rapid response. Bill thought Bus companies should only tender if they have suitable open road vehicles. Sandy pointed out that the executive underfunded the Northeast, especially on school transport – we get less per head than Glasgow children, we have to rob Peter to pay Paul. Discussion on type of belt needed. Duncan commented that his daughter was seriously injured wearing a lap belt. He would like to see full belts. Sandy thinks the Legal dept have a lot to answer for. School Board to write urging rapid action – NKRCC will support the Board.
Plant Sale – To be held on 21 May at 6:30pm. Help needed from 5:30pm. Contact Hazel or Rob if you have plants to donate or wish to help.
Single Transferable Vote system – Sandy gave an outline of the new system.
Aberdeenshire Councillors - Mike thanked both Sandy and Mike for their sterling service and good advice to us over the years. Sandy was very complimentary to the Community Council and Mike Sullivan agreed wholeheartedly.
