MINUTES of the meeting of 19 September were approved subject to the amendment that Duncan Petrie

was not in attendance.

MATTERS ARISING

New Lairhillock School – Mike reported that the only information he had was that there would be a meeting of Teachers of Maryculter and Netherley schools regarding their roles in the new school. It was agreed that the situation was unacceptable and that we should write to Education Dept requesting timetable of building progress.

Web site – Nothing to report.

Banchory-Devenick School No reduction in teachers in foreseeable future as additional children enrolled. Sandy said that Aberdeenshire policy is not to move teachers immediately there is a reduction in numbers of pupils, however if at the same time there is an unfilled vacancy in another school then it would be very difficult to retain the teacher.

Roads – No further news on Solar powered warning lights for Banchory-Devenick Crossroads

Western Peripheral Route – No further movement. Two Grade Separated junctions approved at Portlethen for the Hillside Development. Although using this junction for the WPR would have been logical, the Council felt unable to delay the 800 house development relating to the junction.

South Deeside View – Distribution in progress. Sufficient funds for two more issues, however ideas for additional funding would be appreciated. (Rob and Hazel will be pursuing the matter)

1.                  PLANNING

ALP - Public Inquiry.  Council has accepted all Reporter’s recommendations in respect of settlements in our area. 70 houses deleted from Blairs now proposed for Newtonhill, Marywell and Durris.

Blairs – The 281 house, Golf course etc. development will now be judged purely as an ‘enabling development’ in the Green Belt, aimed at preserving the Blairs College building.

Association of Scottish Community Councils – Request for us to circulate petition to Scottish Parliament. It was agreed that given time constraint it would be circulated to those who receive our minutes.

2.                  FINANCE

Due to confusion at previous meetings we have drawn prizes of £50 over that agreed. This months draw would therefore exclude one for £50.

200 Club –

October £5 no: 282 A Stewart - £10 no: 195 M Ritchie

4.            CORRESPONDENCE

Police Report – No report.

5.            AOCB

Notice Board at Hall – Hall Committee have applied to Co-op Dividend Community Fund.

Plants – Jill had been in contact with the Council. She confirmed that only  planters or beds that could survive with limited attention through the holidays would be used.

Solstice Nurseries – Sandy attended the opening  of this project which employs those with learning difficulties, and encouraged all to visit and purchase their plants etc.

Katherine Grainger – Sandy encouraged everyone to vote for Katherine in the Sunday Times sportsperson  poll
