MINUTES of the meeting of 15 August were approved

MATTERS ARISING

Rural Schools – Roads issues not yet resolved regarding speed restrictions.

New Lairhillock School – Rob asked if anyone had offered to explain why work on the school has not yet started, and should not the road works be completed before school starts, Philip said they should be completed before the school opens. Our letter to the Director of Education asking for details of progress, timetable etc. had produced no actual information, merely acknowledgement. Philip will try to meet with the Director of Education and let us know. Steve asked if there was anything else we can do, it appears not.

Web site – Nothing to report.

Banchory-Devenick School At least 48 pupils needed or the school will lose a teacher( 2 pupils due to leave)

We will write to the Education Dept to voice concern over staff disruption during school year and reminding the Education Department of the mobility of households in our area – similar situation at Maryculter School last year.

Roads – Solar powered warning lights to be erected at Banchory-Devenick crossroads, as Council has now discovered there is no convenient electrical supply, six weeks order time for panels. There are potholes on many of our roads, but Council confirm they are not Priority 1. Bill said there were deep holes and long trenches on the Stranog/Craigentath stretch of at Wedderhill junction awaiting resurfacing without warning cones.. Rob suggested phone Thelma Black as we cannot wait for letter.

Western Peripheral Route –  We are assured that the EIA is addressing all of the issues we have raised. As we are a little sceptical, we propose raising each issue individually, especially where WE think people will be affected rather than where THEY believe they will be. Next information will be announcement of route and line orders to be published, providing original (Murtle) route accepted. Otherwise further delay.

South Deeside View – Articles to be submitted by last Friday, Hazel queried Sandy Wallaces email address.

1.                  PLANNING

ALP - Public Inquiry. Information now received that Council proposes to accept all Reporter’s recommendations in respect of settlements in our area (reported last month). Similarly where we achieve changes to policies, those changes now formally accepted. 70 houses deleted from Blairs now proposed for Newtonhill.

The only Reporter’s recommendation for our area not accepted by the Council was that the hills around Stonehaven should not be designated as a protected area at present.

Blairs –.see above

Supplementary Planning Guidance - Council would like our comments on whether the housing allocations for the second phase of ALP (2006-2010) should be brought forward to speed the planning process. As these houses are due to be built anyway, agreed to write to say ‘No objection’
